Artemisia started belly dancing 18 years ago, as a young teenager. Today she is fast becoming a sought-after international performer and teacher. Having started her dance career early in life with several local instructors, she went on to study with international master teachers from Egypt, Europe and the US. Recently she has been especially influenced by American award winning dancer Aziza, who she continues to study with.

Artemisia's performances are full of joy and fun, passion and sensuality. Audiences especially appreciate her magic with the silk veil, her ability to convey both drama and emotion on the stage, and her sense of humour. As a soloist she performs regularly in Belgium and abroad, teaching successful workshops at bellydance festivals world-wide (The Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, South-Africa, Italy, Iceland, USA...).  

She is the director and lead teacher of dance school (e)motion in Leuven (Belgium), offering classes and workshops to hundreds of students, from total beginners to professionals, as well as a successful international summer school. Students describe her as an enthusiastic, warm and encouraging teacher who loves to share her passion and knowledge, combining technical expertise with a great sense of introducing students to communication and creativity in dance.

How to survive a hafla and have fun! Feeling daunted about improvising at a hafla? Artemisia will pass on her favourite tips & tricks for getting the most out of the hafla experience.
